Flyfishing Lapland
Flyfishing Lapland
The large and deep mountain lakes have high and stable stocks, and fish in great numbers start running this clear water river from beginning of July. The arctic char in mountain lakes are approximately 30 years in reaching ½ kg, and we find them at an average of 1-1½ kilo. We have caught arctic char up to 5-6 kg. North of the polar circle in the midnigth sun, you can fly fish all by yourself, day and night. The Arctic nature is rich in both flora and fauna, and eagle, lynx, moose, reindeer and other animals come down to the river.
Our helicopter flies us deep into the Arctic mountains, to the arctic char and trout watersheds. We will pitch our base-camp in one of the last remaining wilderness areas in Lapland that still offers serious trout fishing in kilometres of clear water rivers. If you appreciate clear water, strong fish and nice average size, this area offers quite possibly the best fly fishing for arctic char and brown trout in Lapland. The fishing is self guided, because you don't really need the daily attention of a guide. The tour leader will explain and show you the best pools.
We have combed the Lapland wilderness for clear water fishing since 1981, and unique places like these, are still a reality. Out here we aim to make our primitive stay in the wilderness as comfortable as possible, and for the first time this year we will bring a Lavvu with fireplace, where we can sit, eat and stand upright. Overnight in expedition tents for more privacy.

Itinerary
Day 1.
We meet at the helicopter base and fly off into the wilderness. The fishing camp is surrounded by crystal clear streams for 4-8 km in both directions. This place is only known to a handful of people, so we have more than enough elbow room. Under the Arctic sky, the fresh ingredients we cook over the open fire are the ideal accompaniment to our fish, and in river we have the finest drinking water.
Day 2.
We fish in the area surrounding the fishing camp, and we show you the best pools in the area. On this trip you do everything associated with wilderness life, even down to helping in the building of a stone smoking oven for our fish. Just being in the wilderness is such a great experience and when the Midnight Sun shines north of the Polar Circle, you can fish at any time of the day and night. The Arctic nature is rich in both flora and fauna, and eagle, lynx, moose, reindeer and other animals come down to the river. So bring a good zoom.
Day 3.
If you are interested we can take a full-day excursion to a new, well-stocked stream. You can also join for a shorter distance, on the way there are several good pools, where fishing is also very recommended.
Day 4.
After a few days you forget the everyday life back home and a new day presents itself by being in the wilderness on its terms. We relax and angel around the camp. The mountain scenery and animal life in the area deserves to be enjoyed, and if your desire for fishing has been met, some of us can go on a photo-safari along the river at night after finishing our campfire meal.
Day 5.
Helicopter takes us in the afternoon. After a deserved bath and visit in the sauna, the trip is finished with dinner and a good night's sleep in a cabin.
Day 6.
Next morning you bring home your wilderness experience.
